Abstract:

Sulige region is located in the northwest of Ordos Basin with the exploration area of 40000 km2. In the region, large tight gas reservoir with low permeability, low pressure and low abundance is mainly developed. Through explorations for more than 10 years, current China’s largest natural gas field, Sulige gas field, has been discovered, with proven geologic reserve of natural gas 2.85×1012 m3. In summary of geological conditions for hydrocarbon accumulation and exploration technology, it can be found that the primary control factors to form such a large gas reservoir include: gentle structure and excessive distribution of hydrocarbon source rock, stable deposition and large-area distribution of sand reservoirs, constructive diagenesis and distribution of high permeability reservoirs, natural gas proximal migration and high accumulation efficiency. And full-digital seismic exploration, fine logging evaluation of complex gas reservoir, transformation of tight sandstone reservoir are key technologies for exploration and development of large-scale tight gas reservoir in Sulige.
