Abstract: Re-Ou area of Liao basin has the features of low exploration degree, lack cored data, and the indecision of sandy hydrocarbon reservoirs. The sequence stratigraphy was applied to predict the distribution of sandy reservoirs. The sequence subdivision and correlation showed the unconformity of S3 member of the study area,i.e.sequence boundary SB2 was discovered between the upper formation and the lower formation of S3 member. The duration of the developing period of SB2 is the remained accommodation when the channel sand bodies filled along the palaeo-geomorphologic low. Therefore, the palaeo-geomorphologic low along the sequence boundary SB2 is the target area of the sandy reservoirs. The palaeo-geomorphologic low in Re-Ou area was governed by faults and volcanic rocks and mainly developed along the flank of the volcanic rocks accumulation. The prediction of sandy reservoirs developed along the palaeo-geomorphologic low was effective and verified by drilling.
