Abstract: The area of Taiwan Straits mainly refers to the Taiwan western basin.It is a basin of repeated coverage of about 8,000 meters of total thickness of sedimentary rock during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic Era.Evolution of this basin may be divided into three stages,i.e.,pre-rift during the Mesozoic Era; fault depression of the Eogene period; draping of the Neogene period in the western part of the basin,depression of the Neogene period in the eastern part of the basin.The geological characteristics consist of three types of tectonic framework in the basin,i.e.,zonation from east to west; fault depression-uplift-depression,difference in geology from north to south in the basin,frequent tectonism in multiple stages.Oil and gas prospects for the Taiwan western basin are very good.

摘要: 台湾海峡地区,主要指台西盆地,是中、新生代叠合盆地.其构造发育分三个阶段:中生代是张裂前期阶段;老第三纪为断陷阶段;晚第三纪西部为区域东倾沉降阶段,东部为坳陷阶段.地质构造特征表现出一个盆地具有三种结构类型:即东西分带的断陷——隆起——坳陷;南北地质上众多的差异性;构造运动的多期频繁性.盆地内有潜在的油气远景.
