Abstract: The carboniferous basement wethered crust in Junggar Basin extends to 500m below uncoxzforzuity.The existence of cover zone-A and reservoir-zone B and zone C in the weathered crust,and its location between two source laeds give rise to oil pools izx case of suitable trapping.The earbcanifexous oil pool is one of basement weathered crust with porosity-fissure type reservoir having a high production layer in zaneB.The exploration znethads consist of modern structure palaeotopography,weathered crust thickness and lithology-palaeogeologic znapping,etc.Karaznay-Yrheregion is one of the favorable areas for explcyration of such oil pools in Junggar Basin.
