Abstract: Relative permeability is a most important parameter in describing the multiphase flow behavior of reservoir fluids in porous medium. With the progressing of thermal oil recovery,a number of studies of temperature effects on relative permeability have been reported. However, some of the reported results are contradictory.Particularly,in recent years, some studies reported that relative permeabilities show no temperature dependence. The purpose of this study attempts to give a understanding of the fundamental properties affecting oil/water relative permeabilities at elevated temperature,ie.the effects of various factors: the change of viscous instabilities, interfacial tension, wattability and porosity, etc.at elevated temperaturees.Experimental results indicate that relative permeability curves demonstrated in this paper are affected by temperature.Relative permeability to oil increases and relative permeability to water decreases at a given saturation while residual oil saturation decreases and irreducible water saturation increases with increasing temperature. The reason of these changes are discussed also.
