Abstract:The crust-mantle background and space distribution of palaeogene source rock in the east of China,the tectonic background,sediment and basin environment,state of organic matter,abundance of organic matter and type of organic matter in source rocks and geothermal field characters are analyzed.The generation and evolvement of the Qinling-Dabie Orogen and Tanlu Faults are the primary factors for controlling the tectonic development of the Palaeogene basins.The effective source rock is enriched in the north-east rift basin of Bohai Bay because of its large scale and deep cut.The effective source rock in the southern North China near EW-NWW trend faulted basin is the poorest because of its small scale and shallow cut.The developing degree of the effective source rock in Nanxiang Basin with cloverleaf junction lies in medium of the above basins.
