Abstract:There developed many red detrital laterite strata named as red-bed in the Cenozoic stratum of the eastern China oilfields. There are many factors affecting the development of oil-gas pools in the red-bed. The main factors include sedimentation and tectonics. The hydrocarbon accumulation conditions which resulted from sedimentation have controlled the validity of traps. The thick mudstone can control the sealing features of traps. The faults have also controlled the hydrocarbon accumulation in the red-bed reservoir. The traps near faults are the essential ways for developing oil and gas pools in red bed.
